Fried Banana S’mores

It's amazing what happens to a banana when you cook it. It turns into a scoopable, tender spoonful of intense sweetness and a perfect vehicle for S'mores toppings. These bananas are cooked in the air fryer, but you can also throw them onto the grill with success too.

Fried Banana S’mores

  • Prep Time: 10 m
  • Cook Time: 6 m
  • Total Time: 16 m
  • Servings:
    4

Ingredients

  • 4 bananas
  • 3 tablespoons mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 tablespoons mini peanut butter chips
  • 3 tablespoons mini marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons graham cracker cereal

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat the air fryer to 400ºF.
  2. Slice into the un-peeled bananas lengthwise along the inside of the curve, but do not slice through the bottom of the peel. Open the banana slightly to form a pocket.
  3. Fill each pocket with chocolate chips, peanut butter chips and marshmallows. Poke the graham cracker cereal into the filling.
  4. Place the bananas into the air fryer basket, resting them on each other to keep them upright with the filling facing up. Air-fry for 6 minutes, or until the banana is soft to the touch, the peel has blackened and the chocolate and marshmallows have melted and toasted.
  5. Let them cool for a couple of minutes and then simply serve with a spoon to spoon out the filling.

OMG! Can you say heaven? Who knew? These are absolutely awesome!
I did add a bit of caramel topping after they were done which was perfect!
My only problem was not eating all of them!
I can’t wait to share these this weekend with my family, their going to flip!
Thank you so much for this fantastic this recipe!

Grandkids had a blast making them ( 4-13 years old) and eating them. So quick and easy. We added strawberry syrup after they were done. ( I’m diabetic so couldn’t try one but the looks on their faces while eating them tells me they were delicious)

This was an unmitigated disaster! It made a huge mess in the air fryer; one of the advantages of an air fryer is that clean-up is so easy (usually just a rinse out with hot water); so, instead of enjoying a treat, I had cleaning for 10 minutes. The consistency of the “cooked” banana was so disgusting that it made my grandson throw up (he has a sensitive and strong gag reflex)! My advice is… stick to traditional s’mores.

    1. Sorry you had a problem and the bananas didn’t agree with your grandson’s sensitivity issues. It does help if you use firm, just-ripe bananas. If they are too ripe and are air-fried too long, the bananas can get too mushy. It can get messy if the bananas tip over and the filling falls out. The recipe suggests to load them side by side to hold them upright. You could also use some foil to help prevent the bananas from tipping over. I always find that whenever making s’mores of any kind, there always is a bit of mess involved.

So yummy! For ours, we reduced the time to 4mins which gave a bit firmer, but still soft banana. The cereal burned a bit too much to taste good, so we crushed a handful and added it after the bananas came out along with caramel sauce. Will definitely do again!!
